Arinet, an artemisinin derivative, is a potent antimalarial drug indicated for the following conditions:
Malaria, Schistosomiasis
Arinet acts as an antiparasitic by generating harmful chemicals (free radicals) within the malarial parasite, leading to its destruction.
Common side effects may include:
Artesunate, the active component, is metabolized to the active DHA. It generates free radicals inhibiting protein and nucleic acid synthesis in Plasmodium parasites during all erythrocytic stages. It may also lead to alkylation of parasitic proteins.
Artesunate 50 mg tablet:
Artesunate 100 mg tablet:
Dosage for Malaria Prevention: Two Artesunate 50 tablets (or one Artesunate 100 tablet) as a single dose once a week, from one week before entering a malaria-affected area to four weeks after leaving.
Renal Dose: Artesunate, the active ingredient, is derived from the Chinese herb Artemisia annua and is a potent blood schizontocide.
Artesunate is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Artemisinin and its derivatives or inactive ingredients.
Considered safe for treating malaria in pregnancy, but further study is needed. Use with caution during breastfeeding, and it's recommended to stop breastfeeding during treatment.
